He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
