The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
