The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And no trifle. 14 They are cunningly devising, 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
