The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great news - 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
