99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. These are the verses of the Book, and a Qur'an luminous. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Never did We destroy a population that had not a term decreed and assigned beforehand. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 And they say: O you to whom the Reminder has been revealed! you are most surely insane: 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We do not send angels except with the truth. Then they shall have no respite. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before. 13 And even if We open to them a gateway of heaven, so that they ascend into it all the while, 14 they would still have said: "Surely our eyes have been dazzled; rather, we have been enchanted." 15

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
