The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
