and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial. 33 Indeed, these [disbelievers] are saying, 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
