He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble, pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
