And to Samood (We sent) their brother Salih. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than Him; clear proof indeed has come to you from your Lord; this is (as) Allah's she-camel for you-- a sign, therefore leave her alone to pasture on Allah's earth, and do not touch her with any harm, otherwise painful chastisement will overtake you. 73 Remember, how you were made leaders after the people of 'Ad, and were settled on the land so that you could construct on the plains palaces, and carve dwellings out of mountains. So think of the favours of God, and do not act with corruption in the land." 74 The chiefs of those who were stiff-necked amongst His people said unto those who were counted weak - unto such of them as believed: know ye that Salih is a sent one of his Lord? They said: verily we are believers in that wherewith he hath been sent. 75 Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers." 76 So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers." 77 So the earthquake took them unawares, and they lay prostrate in their homes in the morning! 78 Then he turned away from them and said: O my people I did certainly deliver to you the message of my Lord, and I gave you good advice, but you do not love those who give good advice. 79 And We sent Lut – when he said to his people, “What! You commit the shameful acts which no one in the creation has ever done before you?” 80 "For ye practise your lusts on men in preference to women: ye are indeed a people transgressing beyond bounds." 81 And the answer of his people was no other than that they said: Turn them out of your town, surely they are a people who seek to purify (themselves). 82 So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers]. 83 And We rained upon them a rain; consider then what was the end of the guilty. 84
