Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Surely, you shall have no power over My true servants, except those misguided ones who choose to follow you. 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
