۞ And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them." 53 He said: "Indeed you and your fathers have been in manifest error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 By Allah, I will certainly outwit your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone' 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth called Ibrahim speak of them. 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 "No," he said. "It was done by that chief of theirs. Ask him in case they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said: Worship ye then instead of Allah that which cannot profit you at all, nor harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 But We delivered him and (his nephew) Lut (and directed them) to the land which We have blessed for the nations. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 and appointed them to be leaders guiding by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, and to perform the prayer, and to pay the alms, and Us they served. 73 And Lot -- to him We gave judgment and knowledge; and we delivered him from the city that had been doing deeds of corruption; they were an evil people, truly ungodly; 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
