And lo! it is a revelation of the Lord of the Worlds, 192 The honest Spirit (Gabriel) brought it down 193 To thy heart and mind, that thou mayest admonish. 194 in the clear Arabic tongue. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a sign to them that the learned men of the Israelites know it? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 This is how We have made (the habit of) denying embedded in the hearts of the guilty. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 So it will come upon them suddenly, whilst they will be unaware. 202 Then they will say: "Can we be respited?" 203 What, do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 204 What do you see? If We gave them enjoyment for years, 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 They are unworthy of it, nor can they do it. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 And warn thy tribe of near kindred, 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say: 'I am quit of what you do' 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 who can see whether you stand up 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is all-hearing and all-knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 (Into whose ears) they pour hearsay vanities, and most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Do you not see how they wander aimlessly in every valley, 225 preaching what they do not practice. 226 Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned. 227
