۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Instead of Allah, and lead them to the path to hell; 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay! on that day they shall be submissive. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them awaits a known provision, 41 Fruits! And they shall be honoured. 42 in gardens of bliss, 43 facing one another [in love] upon thrones of happiness. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For such a reward should the workers perform. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 And afterward, lo! their return is surely unto hell. 68 Indeed they found their fathers astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
