۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And they will approach one another blaming each other. 27 Some [of them] will say: "Behold, you were wont to approach us [deceptively] from the right!" 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people; 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 So this day they all are partners in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 They were those who, when it was said to them, "There is no god but God," behaved with insolence, 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits; and they shall be honoured, 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 (Sitting) on couches, face to face, 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 like closely guarded pearls. 49 They will turn to one another with questions: 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: "Are you among those who believe (in resurrection after death). 52 after we die and become dust and bones, we shall be brought to judgement?'" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 So, are we not going to die, 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Indeed, this is the mighty victory, 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 It is a tree that grows in the nethermost part of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then most surely their return shall be to hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So they hastily follow their footsteps! 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Except the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, and true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 74
