88 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Moon (Al-Qamar) before A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 Their assembly left (saying): 'Go, and be patient to your gods, this is something to be desired. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend through [any] ways of access. 10 This is just one of the disgraced armies, that will be routed there and then. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And [the tribe of] Thamud and the people of Lot and the companions of the thicket. Those are the companies. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
