And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 none of this have We created without [an inner] truth: but most of them understand it not. 39 The Day of Judgement is your promised day of meeting, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
