Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And verily, the Recompense is sure to happen. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Through which are deluded (away from the Truth) such as would be deluded. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely those who fear God and follow the straight path will be amidst gardens and fresh springs of water, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
