The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
78 verses, revealed in Medina after Thunder (Al-Ra'ad) before The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Merciful One 1 has taught the Koran. 2 Created man, 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the stars and trees prostrate. 6 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised [for all things] a measure, 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 He has laid out the earth for His creatures. 10 There are fruits of all kinds on it, and date-palms with their clusters sheathed, 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 [He is] Lord of the two sunrises and Lord of the two sunsets. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together: 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 21 Out of them both come out pearl and coral. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
