The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
