The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 facing one another. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
