A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 In scorching wind and boiling hot water. 42 and a shade of thick, pitch-black smoke, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury), 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 “And also our forefathers?” 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you went astray, you that belied, 51 Shall surely eat of the tree of Az-Zqqum. 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink Boiling Water on top of it: 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We created you; therefore why will you not believe? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Do you create a child out of it, or are We its creators? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 (Saying): "We are indeed Mughramun (i.e. ruined or lost the money without any profit, or punished by the loss of all that we spend for cultivation, etc.)! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire which you strike? 71 Is it you who have brought into being the tree that serves as its fuel - or are We the cause of its coming into being? 72 We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler. 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
