Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 He exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, who has neither taken to Himself a wife, nor a son! 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had supposed that men and jinn would never utter a lie against God. 5 And indeed (O Muhammad) individuals of humankind used to invoke the protection of individuals of the jinn, so that they increased them in revolt against Allah); 6 ‘And that they assumed, like you humans assume, that Allah would not send any Noble Messenger.’ 7 And we sought to reach the heaven; then we found it filled with a strong guard and darting meteors. 8 We sat in observatories to listen; but any one who listened found a shooting star in wait for him. 9 We do not know if this means ill for the dwellers of the earth, or their Lord wishes guidance for them. 10 'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths. 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 'And indeed when we heard the Guidance (this Quran), we believed therein (Islamic Monotheism), and whosoever believes in his Lord shall have no fear, either of a decrease in the reward of his good deeds or an increase in punishment for his sins. 13 Some of us have surrendered (Muslims) and some of us have deviated. Those who surrendered sought the Right Path, 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 If people were to keep firmly to the Right Way, We would have vouchsafed them abundant rain 16 as a trial for them. God will make those who disregard the guidance from their Lord suffer increasing torment. 17 And the prostrations are for Allah; wherefore call not along with Allah anyone. 18 And that when the servant of Allah stood up calling upon Him, they wellnigh crowded him (to death). 19
