Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 By those which cause earth's vegetation to revive; 3 Then separate them, one from another, 4 And those [angels] who deliver a message 5 to excuse some and warn others: 6 What is promised will surely come to pass. 7 So when the stars are put out, 8 And when the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 when the mountains shall be scattered 10 And when the Messengers are gathered to their time appointed; 11 To what day is the doom fixed? 12 The Day of Judgement. 13 What will explain to you what the Day of Judgement is? 14 On that day, woe will be to those who have rejected God's revelations! 15 Did We not destroy the ancients, 16 We will now cause the later ones to follow them: 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 19 Did We not create you from contemptible water? 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 until an appointed time? 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 24 Have We not made the earth a repository 25 for both the living and the dead? 26 And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water. 27 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 [But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame." 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 As though they were camels yellow tawny. 33 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 34 On that day they will not be able to speak, 35 And they will not be permitted to put forth any excuse. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples. 38 So if you have a plan, plan against Me (now). 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
