Hizb 39
< random >
And indeed We sent to the Thamud, their fellowman Saleh that, "Worship Allah", thereupon they became two parties quarrelling. 45 'My nation' he said, 'why do you wish to hasten evil rather than good? Why do you not ask the forgiveness of Allah, in order that you find mercy' 46 They said, "We consider you an evil omen, and your companions"; he said, "Your evil omen is with Allah - in fact you people have fallen into trial." 47 And there were in the city nine persons who made mischief in the land and reformed not. 48 They said, "Let us swear by God to do away with him and his family during the night then tell his guardian that we did not see how he and his family had been destroyed, and we shall be telling the truth." 49 And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not. 50 We destroyed them and their people altogether. 51 and [now] those dwellings of theirs are empty, [ruined] as an outcome of their evil deeds. In this, behold, there is a message indeed for people of [innate] knowledge 52 and We saved those who believed in and feared God. 53 And Lut! what time he said unto his people: commit ye indecency while ye see? 54 What, do you approach men lustfully instead of women? No, you are a people that are ignorant.' 55 ۞ There was no other answer given by his people except that they said: "Drive out the family of Lout (Lot) from your city. Verily, these are men who want to be clean and pure!" 56 But We saved him and his family, except his wife; her We destined to be of those who lagged behind. 57 the while We rained a rain [of destruction] upon the others: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail] 58
