Nay, verily: By the Moon, 32 By the night when it departs. 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to mortal man 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were frightened (wild) donkeys. 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
