The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
