He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
