The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 on a great day 5 The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 But, the record of the righteous is [preserved] in the 'Illiyyin -- 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
