Al-Najm 3 of 3
So did you observe him who turned away? 33 who gave a little, and then stopped? 34 Is with him knowledge of the unseen so that he seeth? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 To wit, that a burthened soul shall not bear the burthen of another. 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 And afterward he will be repaid for it with fullest payment; 41 And that unto thy Lord is the goal. 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 And Thamud - and He did not spare [them] - 51 and that He it is Who destroyed the people of Noah before for they were much given to iniquity and transgression. 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 indulging in carelessly idle games? 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
