The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them 15 Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
