The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)

۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
