The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
