Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth how it has been spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
