Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
