Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And ten nights, 2 by the even, and the odd, 3 And by the Night when it passeth away;- 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),- 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 and Thamood, who hollowed the rocks in the valley, 9 And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? - 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And multiplied therein corruption. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 Your Lord is certainly in wait. 14 As for man - when his Lord proveth him and so honoureth him and is bounteous unto him, then he saith: 'my Lord hath honoured me, 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 No indeed; but you honour not the orphan, 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 And ye devour heritages with devouring greed. 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and when your Lord appears with rows upon rows of angels, 22 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 So on that Day, none will punish as He will punish. 25 and Allah will bind as none other can bind. 26 O soul that art at rest! 27 return to your Lord wellpleased, wellpleasing. 28 So enter among My servants, 29 enter My Paradise! 30
