The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the sun and its rising brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 And by oath of the heaven and by oath of Him Who made it. 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He who nourishes it will surely be successful, 9 and he who corrupts it is sure to fail. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them]. 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
