The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
