The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
