The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
