In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 Verily We! anon We shall cast upon thee a weighty word. 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave those to Me who deny, the lovers of ease and comfort; and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed, with Us [for them] are shackles and burning fire 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On a day when the earth and the mountains will tremble, and the mountains turn into dunes of flowing sand. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This is a reminder. Let anyone who wants, seek guidance from his Lord. 19
