The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
