Al-Duhaa

The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)

11 verses, revealed in Mecca after Dawn (Al-Fajr) before Cooling the Temper (Al-Sharrhh)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

I swear by the early hours of the day, 1 And by the night when it is still (or darkens); 2 (Muhammad), your Lord has not abandoned you (by not sending you His revelation), nor is He displeased with you. 3 What is to come is better for you than what has gone before; 4 Thy Lord shall give thee, and thou shalt be satisfied. 5 Found He not thee an orphan, so He sheltered thee? 6 And find you lost (that is, unrecognized by men) and guide (them to you)? 7 And found thee in want, and given thee sufficiency? 8 Therefore, treat not the orphan with oppression, 9 and chide not him who asks, 10 And abundantly proclaim the favours of your Lord. 11
