Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 And persons among humankind have been seeking refuge with persons of the jinn, so that they increased them in evil disposition. 6 So they began to think, even as you do, that God would not resurrect any one. 7 (The jinn continued saying): "We made our way towards heaven, but we found it filled with stern guards and a flame. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 And among us are Muslims [in submission to Allah], and among us are the unjust. And whoever has become Muslim - those have sought out the right course. 14 And as for those who are unjust, they are firewood for hell. 15 (Say): "If they keep to the right path We shall give them water in abundance to drink 16 as a trial for them. God will make those who disregard the guidance from their Lord suffer increasing torment. 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
