A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 The Book has been sent down to you; so let your chest have no constriction because of it, in order to warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 How many a village have We laid in ruin! In the night Our Might fell upon it, or at midday when they were drowsy. 4 And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!" 5 So We shall call to account those to whom Messengers were sent, and We shall call to account the Messengers (to see how dutifully they conveyed the Message, and how people responded to it). 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 And on that Day, the weighing will truly be done; so those whose scales prove heavy are the successful. 8 And as for those whose scale will be light, they are those who will lose their ownselves (by entering Hell) because they denied and rejected Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 9 We established you in the land and provided you with a means of livelihood there: yet you are seldom thankful. 10
