The great ones among Pharaoh's people said: "Verily, this is indeed a sorcerer of great knowledge, 109 "His plan is to get you out of your land: then what is it ye counsel?" 110 They said: "Keep him and his brother in suspense (for a while); and send to the cities men to collect- 111 “To bring all the expert magicians to you.” 112 The magicians came to the Pharaoh and said: "Is there reward for us if we succeed?" 113 He said: Yes, and you shall certainly be of those who are near (to me). 114 They said, "Moses, will you first throw, or shall we?" 115 He said, "You throw [first]!" When they made their cast, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck them with awe, for they showed a great [feat of] magic. 116 And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying. 117 ۞ whereupon the truth was established, and vain was proved all that they had been doing. 118 Pharaoh and his men were defeated and utterly humiliated. 119 And the magicians were obliged to fall prostrate. 120 Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 "The Lord of Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)." 122 Fir'awn said: believed ye in him ere I have given you leave? Verily this is a plot ye have plotted in the city that ye may drive forth the people thereof. So presently ye shall know. 123 I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all." 124 They replied, "We shall surely return to our Lord. 125 And you do not take revenge on us except because we have believed in the communications of our Lord when they came to us! Our Lord: Pour out upon us patience and cause us to die in submission. 126
