At-Tawba 4 of 16
Allah has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing. 25 Then God sent down upon His Messenger His Shechina, and upon the believers, and He sent down legions you did not see, and He chastised the unbelievers; and that is the recompense of the unbelievers; 26 Then (after so chastising the unbelievers), Allah enables, whomsoever He wills, to repent. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Merciful. 27 O People who Believe! The polytheists are utterly filthy in body and soul; so after this year do not let them come near the Sacred Mosque; and if you fear poverty due to loss of trade, then Allah will soon make you wealthy with His grace, if He wills; indeed Allah is All Knowing, Wise. 28 Fight against the People given the Book who do not accept faith in Allah and the Last Day, and who do not treat as forbidden what is forbidden by Allah and by His Noble Messenger, and who do not follow the true religion, until they pay the tariff with their own hands with humiliation. 29
