And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 When your Lord said to the angels, "I will create the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 He said: My Lord! then respite me till the time when they are raised. 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
