۞ To Abraham We gave the right guidance and We knew him very well. 51 When he said to his father and his people: "What are these idols to which you cling so passionately?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "Both you and your fathers have certainly been in error." 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said: Aye! your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth Who created them, and as to that I am of the witnesses. 56 And, by Allah! I will certainly do something against your idols after you go away, turning back. 57 And then he broke those [idols] to pieces, [all] save the biggest of them, so that they might [be able to] turn to it. 58 They said: Who has done this to our gods? Most surely he is one of the unjust. 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify." 61 [And when he came.] they asked: "Hast thou done this to our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak." 63 So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers." 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 Said [Abraham]: "Do you then worship, instead of God, something that cannot benefit you in any way, nor harm you? 66 Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allah. Then will you not use reason?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 We said: "O fire, become coolness and safety for Abraham." 69 They had devised an evil plan (against Abraham), but We turned it into failure." 70 And We rescued him and Lut towards the land which We have blessed for the entire world. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob as an additional gift, making each of them righteous. 72 And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
