Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 guiding towards consciousness of what is right; and so we have come to believe in it. And we shall never ascribe divinity to anyone beside our Sustainer, 2 And that He-- exalted be the majesty of our Lord-- has not taken a consort, nor a son: 3 The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, 4 And we had thought that mankind and the jinn would never speak about Allah a lie. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 And we stretched towards heaven, but we found it filled with terrible guards and meteors. 8 ‘And that we sometimes used to sit in some places in the sky, to listen; so whoever now listens finds a fiery comet waiting for him.’ 9 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. 10 and that “some of us are upright and some of us are otherwise for we follow widely divergent paths”; 11 We knew that we could never challenge God whether we stayed on earth or fled elsewhere. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 And there are among us some who have surrendered (to Allah) and there are among us some who are unjust. And whoso hath surrendered to Allah, such have taken the right path purposefully. 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If they had followed the Path We would give to them abundant water to drink, 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 And the mosques are for Allah (Alone), so invoke not anyone along with Allah. 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
