AND, INDEED, [long before Muhammad] We vouchsafed revelation unto Moses, and appointed his brother Aaron to help him to bear his burden; 35 Then We said: go ye twain unto a people who have belied Our signs. Then We annihilated them an utter annihilation. 36 And [think of] the people of Noah: when they gave the lie to [one of] the apostles, We caused them to drown, and made them a symbol for all mankind: for, grievous suffering have We readied for all who [knowingly] do wrong! 37 also to Aad and Thamood and the nation of ErRass and many generations in between; 38 to each of them We gave examples, and each of them We utterly ruined. 39 And assuredly they have gone by the township whereon was rained the evil rain. Are they not wont to see it? Aye! they expect not Resurrection. 40 (Muhammad), when they see you, they will only mock you and say, "Has God really sent him as a Messengers? 41 He would have surely turned us away from our gods if we had not adhered to them." They will know soon who is farther away from the path when they see the punishment! 42 Have you seen him who has taken his own desire to be his god? Can you be a guardian over him? 43 Do you think most of them can hear or understand? They are like cattle. Indeed, they are even more astray. 44
